Biography

Griffin Rupp

Griffin Rupp is an incoming Master's student at Yale University, where he will be studying trombone performance with Scott Hartman. He completed his undergraduate studies at Northwestern University under the tutelage of Michael Mulcahy, Timothy Higgins, Reed Capshaw, Christopher Davis, Douglas Wright, and Randy Hawes. He has performed with the Northwestern Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Opera Company, and Trombone Choir, as well as various chamber groups. Griffin is a member of the “On the Spot Brass” quintet, which was recently named the fellowship quintet for the American Brass Quintet Seminar at the Aspen Music Festival and School. Griffin’s other summer festival experiences include the Brevard Music Festival, the Eastern Music Festival, and the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America. In addition to his studies, Griffin has substituted with numerous professional groups, most notably the New World Symphony. Throughout his trombone career, he has had the honor of playing in numerous masterclasses with experienced teachers, such as Randy Hawes, Toby Oft, Matt Vaughn, David Taylor, Gene Porkorny, Mark Lusk, John Marcellus, Chris Crenshaw, Michael Powell, David Jackson, and Ava Ordman.
